Running Reading Half Marathon for Nerve Tumours UK

As so many of you may remember back in 2018 I ran the London Marathon and raised £4800 for The Neuro Foundation (which has since been renamed Nerve Tumours UK).
I was SO amazingly grateful for all your support and the generous donations you gave. It was so inspiring given how much this charity means to me and our family.

So.. why the Reading Half this year? Well….its the Christmas ‘present’ that keeps on giving… Ali bought me a place in the Reading Half Marathon (with car parking) the Christmas of 2018 saying that another challenge ‘would be a good thing for me’. Personally I think a day at a spa or a weekend away would have been equally good for me. But we must beg to differ I was told.

I trained for Reading and 2 weeks before the race in March 2019 I pulled up with problems with my knee. This delightful present was therefore ‘rolled over’ to bring me more Christmas cheer, to know I was to be training yet again, this time for the Reading half of March 2020. However, as we all know this didnt happen due to Covid.
Again the Christmas present continued to ‘give’ and yet again it was ‘rolled over’ to November 7th 2021.

I am DETERMINED to run this now! Honestly, partly because I would like a different Christmas present this year and also because I think my body isnt going to let me continue to run long runs for much longer. My knees do seem to be a bit of an issue ... and the day after the half marathon this year I officially become middle aged turning 45.

Therefore, armed with a gift that just keeps on giving, age not on my side and a huge passion and belief in this amazing charity I wonder if you would help me to raise £201 to take the total of the marathon monies raised in 2018 and this Reading half marathon to a phenomenal amount of £5001.

I know the good this charity does and every penny will be put to good use.

INFER (International NF Educational Resources) is a series of online educational lectures for medical professionals by leading neurofibromatosis experts. The Masterclasses take place online approximately once a month, each on a different topic, and include real-time interaction between the expert presenter and the participants. The presentations are conducted in English, with real-time audio interpretation available in 6 additional languages: French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. A recording of each INFER masterclass is then be made available online in each language for those who could not attend an event.
